​​Dr. Guides offers both in-person sessions in her Wayne office and virtual sessions on Doxy (a secure telehealth platform).

She works with adolescents and adults to provide therapy that is tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.  Dr. Guides provides a compassionate and supportive environment to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients.

 

Dr. Guides often incorporates cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT) with insight-oriented methods to support a deeper exploration of thoughts, emotions and behaviors.  She tailors her approach to meet the specific needs and goals of her clients.  For instance, she may use insight-oriented methods to better understand and alter patterns in one's relationships with others, cognitive and behavioral approaches for social anxiety, or exposure techniques to help a client with a specific fear or phobia.

Dr. Guides has extensive experience working with adolescent and adults to address a range of concerns, including anxiety, (e.g., generalized and social anxiety), depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, relationship issues, and life transitions.  

She actively collaborates with other treating professionals, including primary care physicians, school counselors, psychiatrists, and nutritionists to provide her clients with the best possible care.

Psychoeducational and Psychological Evaluations

Dr. Guides offers Psychoeducational and Psychological Evaluations to children, adolescents and adults.  She has expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and psychological, emotional and behavioral impacting school and day-to-day functioning.

Evaluations include a clinical interview, review of records, behavior rating scales, and a battery of standardized tests.  These tests assess intellectual functioning, academic skills (reading, writing and math), attention and executive functioning, learning and memory, language, and social-emotional functioning.

Evaluations are pursued for a variety reasons, including the identification and diagnosis of learning disabilities and ADHD, determination of eligibility for special education services, monitoring of academic progress, identification of emotional issues impacting academic performance, and to obtain accommodations in school and on standardized assessments (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE & LSAT).

Psychological Evaluations are also pursued for a variety of reasons, such as a desire to better understand social-emotional issues and identify psychological disorders to support academic functioning and/or guide treatment.

Intelligence Testing

In addition to comprehensive evaluations, Dr. Guides offers assessments of intellectual functioning (IQ) with the WISC-V and WPPSI-IV.  These evaluations are often pursued for private school admission purposes or determination of the need for gifted services in public school.
